Most shops require items to be in perfect or near perfect condition before they will agree to accept them for consignment. House to House agrees it's important for merchandise to be in top condition in order to bring the best price possible. BUT. . .
. . .we also know many of our customers often need pieces in less than perfect condition that they can purchase at a deep discount ... pieces with the occasional deep scratch, missing veneer or other imperfection. These customers either can't, or won't, pay a higher price for near perfect pieces.
AND THUS WAS BORN our ever-so-exclusive. . .
SOW'S EAR COLLECTION
The SOW'S EAR COLLECTION is intended to meet the needs of our customers who prefer to invest their time and considerable creative talents - intead of money - to make their living/working spaces true expressions of their personalities. These folks have needs that can't be met by "over the counter" furnishings.
They're looking for something to paint, upholster, cut in half, add mirrors to, add legs to, remove legs from, add doors to, remove doors from - sometimes just outright cannibalize ... you name it, they'll try it. The results are often amazing and always unique!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before you cancel the yard sale and begin packing up every piece of broken, dented, scratched and/or dated furniture in your house to haul it to our shop, STOP!! Some sows' ears just can't be converted to silk purses. And even if they can, we can't devote the sales space required to try to sell them all. Yes, that's right. Even merchandise accepted for inclusion in our Sow's Ear Collection must meet certain standards.
And just what are those standards?
Well, that's hard to say. Again...we'll know it when we see it. The point we're trying to make is you shouldn't assume House to House won't accept items just because they're less than "near perfect." Give us a shot at it. Contact us. Send us a photo via email. As with our regular inventory, we need to make sure we can accept an item to our SOW'S EAR COLLECTION before you go to the trouble to load your truck and drive to the shop. Be aware, however, that pieces included in the SOW'S EAR COLLECTION will be priced accordingly.
When you're in the shop, you'll know a piece belongs to our SOW'S EAR COLLECTION when you see this tag.
