Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
We are in West Athens at Perimeter Square, also known as the old Wal-Mart Center, behind the Rafferty’s and Wendy’s restaurants.

From Loop 10, take the Winder & Monroe Exit to Hwy 78 West. If you’re exiting from Loop 10 going north, take a left at the 2nd light past the overpass just beyond Wendy’s & Rafferty’s. If you’re exiting from Loop 10 going south, take a right at the light, and the left at the first light just beyond past Wendy’s & Rafferty’s. Or call for directions from your location.

Is there merchandise that you won’t accept? Do you make exceptions?
We won’t accept: appliances, linens, mattresses or box springs, draperies, baby cribs, broken or incomplete items; items that are “dated” in a “bad way”. For example, 1970s/1980s Mediterranean style furniture is dated in a “bad way.” Antiques or furnishings dating from the early 20th century through the 1960s are likely dated in a “good way.”

We may make an exception if the potential of an otherwise unacceptable piece is obvious, and the consignor is willing to price it accordingly. For example, if a sofa has “good bones” but bad upholstery, we may accept it and price it in a way that a customer will feel that he or she has gotten a “good deal”, even after the expense of reupholstery. If a wood chair has problems with the finish, but is a style we believe a customer will purchase and paint, we may accept it and price it “as is.”

In any event, we obviously reserve the right to reject any items we do not believe will sell.

How do you price your merchandise, and will I have any input?
It varies from piece to piece, but as a general rule we attempt to price items at 50% to 60% of the new price if we can determine what an item sold for new. Some older pieces may have actually appreciated in value. We will always ask you what you hope to receive from the sale of your piece. If we think your expectations are reasonable, we’ll consider your input. If we think your expectations are unreasonable, we’ll tell you, suggest a more appropriate price and occasionally we may refer you to the classified ads.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept personal checks with satisfactory ID, Visa & MasterCard debit and credit cards, and of course cash.

Do you have layaway?
We will do layaway as space allows. We require a 50% nonrefundable deposit, and the balance is due within 30 days.

If we buy a large item, do we have to take it with us right away? We require all items purchased to be removed from the shop within 48 hours of sale. Any items left longer will be subject to resale and any amount paid will be forfeited. We will ask you to sign a form acknowledging that policy.

Do you deliver or pick up?
No, but we can provide you the name of someone who can, and you can make your own arrangements.

I have some large items, but don’t want to bring them to your shop unless I know you can take them. Can you look at them? Yes, If we can’t get a good idea of the quality and suitability of merchandise from your description, we can set an appointment for an onsite evaluation.

Where do you get your consignments?
We get consignments from folks who are moving (and don’t to incur the expense of moving certain items) or who have moved (and can’t use certain pieces in their new home) from folks downsizing due to retirement, redecorating and from estates.
